TRAILER DRIVER

Job Description

A reputable company is looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Trailer Driver to transport goods and materials efficiently to various destinations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy-duty trailers, ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining vehicle condition, and complying with all road transport regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate trailers and heavy-duty vehicles safely and efficiently.

Transport goods to designated destinations within scheduled timelines.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.

Ensure cargo is properly loaded, secured, and transported without damage.

Maintain accurate records of trips, fuel consumption, mileage, and delivery documentation.

Adhere to all traffic laws, transport regulations, and company policies.

Report vehicle defects, accidents, delays, or incidents promptly.

Monitor vehicle performance and coordinate routine maintenance and repairs.

Verify delivery documents and obtain customer signatures where required.

Ensure the cleanliness and proper upkeep of the assigned vehicle.

Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery status and route conditions.

REQUIREMENTS

Valid Heavy-Duty Driver’s License with authorization to operate trailers.

Minimum of three (3) years proven experience driving trailers or articulated trucks.

Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and transport laws.

Ability to drive long distances and work flexible hours when required.

Good understanding of vehicle inspection and basic maintenance procedures.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Ability to read and interpret delivery schedules and transport documentation.

Physically fit and capable of handling loading and unloading supervision duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in logistics, haulage, distribution, or freight transportation.

Defensive driving certification is an added advantage.

Good knowledge of local and regional transportation routes.
