Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
A Service Van Driver is responsible for safely operating a company vehicle to transport goods, equipment, or personnel while also performing basic service, delivery, or support tasks. This role combines driving expertise with customer service, time management, and sometimes light technical or logistical responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Safe Vehicle Operation
- Drive a service van to assigned locations following all traffic laws and company safety policies
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections (fuel, oil, brakes, tires, lights) before and after trips
- Report mechanical issues promptly and ensure the van is kept in good working condition
2. Delivery & Transportation Duties
- Transport tools, equipment, or goods to job sites, clients, or company branches
- Load and unload items carefully to prevent damage
- Ensure all deliveries are accurate and completed on schedule
3. Route Planning & Time Management
- Plan efficient routes to minimize fuel use and travel time
- Use GPS systems or maps to navigate unfamiliar locations
- Adjust routes when necessary due to traffic or road conditions
4. Customer Service
- Interact professionally with clients during deliveries or service visits
- Obtain signatures or proof of delivery when required
- Address basic customer concerns and communicate feedback to the company
5. Basic Maintenance & Support Tasks
- Assist technicians or service teams by transporting tools and helping with setup
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as cleaning equipment or organizing supplies
- Keep the van clean, organized, and stocked with necessary materials
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain delivery logs, mileage records, and fuel usage reports
- Complete job sheets, invoices, or service documentation accurately
- Report delays, accidents, or incidents immediately
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Valid driver’s license
Clean driving record with strong knowledge of road safety regulations
Good navigation and route planning skills
Basic mechanical knowledge is an advantage
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy items
Time management and reliability.
