Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Procurement Manager to oversee and manage the procurement processes of our mining operations in Ghana. The ideal candidate will have substantial expertise in procurement and supply chain management, particularly within the mining industry. They will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, ensuring cost-effective purchasing, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. This role demands exceptional negotiation skills, strong analytical capabilities, and a deep understanding of the mining sector’s supply chain dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies that align with the company’s operational goals and objectives.
– Manage and oversee the entire procurement process, including sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and supplier performance management.
– Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and partners, ensuring they meet quality, delivery, and cost expectations.
– Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure the best terms and continued supply of necessary materials and services.
– Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and industry best practices to ensure continued competitiveness and innovation in procurement practices.
– Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
– Collaborate with other departments, including operations, finance, and logistics, to ensure alignment on procurement needs and objectives.
– Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and company standards in procurement activities.
– Manage the procurement budget, track expenditures, and report on cost savings and efficiencies achieved.
– Continuously assess risk management and mitigation strategies related to the supply chain.
Qualifications and Experience:
– Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIPS) will be an advantage.
– Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the mining industry.
– Strong knowledge of procurement and supply chain best practices, particularly in the context of the mining sector.
– Exceptional negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence and build long-term partnerships.
– Strong analytical skills, with a proven ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable strategies.
– Experience with procurement software and ERP systems.
– Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a high-performing team.
– Understanding of local and international supply markets and the regulatory landscape in Ghana.
