Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Logistics and Customs Clearance Supervisor to oversee and optimize our logistical operations in Ghana. The successful candidate will ensure that all mining materials and equipment are imported, exported, and transported efficiently and in compliance with Ghanaian and international standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Logistics Management:
– Oversee the planning and execution of all logistical activities from dispatch to delivery.
– Coordinate transportation and warehousing to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and equipment.
– Develop and maintain relationships with transport and shipping service providers.
2. Customs Clearance:
– Manage customs clearance processes for imports and exports, including documentation and coordination with relevant authorities.
– Ensure compliance with all Ghanaian customs regulations as well as international trade laws and standards.
– Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to customs delays or discrepancies.
3. Regulatory Compliance:
– Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant local and international logistics laws, regulations, and certifications.
– Ensure all operations meet the regulatory compliance standards required for mining logistics.
4. Team Leadership:
– Lead and develop a team of logistics coordinators and support staff.
– Provide training and updates on logistics best practices and regulatory changes.
5. Reporting and Analysis:
– Prepare detailed logistics reports, including costs, timelines, and any disruptions.
– Analyze and optimize logistics processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Requirements:
1. Educational Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Work Experience:
– Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics and customs clearance, preferably within the mining industry.
3. Certifications:
– Professional certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CILT Ghana certification).
– Familiarity with international certifications like APICS, CSCMP, or FIATA is an advantage.
4. Skills:
– In-depth understanding of Ghanaian customs laws and international trade processes.
– Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
– Proficiency in logistics software and databases.
– Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
5. Other Requirements:
– Valid Ghanaian driver’s license.
– Willingness to travel to mining sites and other locations as necessary.
– Fluency in English; knowledge of additional local languages is a plus.
