Job Description

A reputable Mining company is looking for a Mine Safety Inspectors to inspect underground or open-pit mines to ascertain compliance with contractual agreements and with health and safety laws: Inspects for rotted or incorrectly placed timbers, dangerously placed or defective electrical and mechanical equipment, improperly stored explosives, and other hazardous conditions. Candidates should be able to read, speak and write English and also must be Ghanaian with a valid passport. – Tests air quality to detect toxic or explosive gas or dust, using portable gas-analysis equipment, in order to control health hazards and to reduce injuries and fatalities.
– Observes mine activities to detect violations of federal and state health and safety standards.
– Inspects mine workings to verify compliance with contractual agreements concerning production rates or mining within specified limits.
– Instruct mine workers in safety and first aid procedures.
– Investigates accidents on the mine.
– Inspects confined spaces for ventilation.
– Inspects hazardous materials and waste.
– Makes sure water, food and environment is safe for people.

– Degree or Diploma in Mining, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and a Professional Engineering Designation.
– Four(4) to Five(5) years experience in an engineering role in mining and/or industrial related operations.
– Thorough understanding of a number of different engineering disciplines applicable to the mining industry.
– Legislation applicable to health and safety in the mining industry.
– Current trends and developments in a number of mining related specialized fields.
– Technology related to mining operations and processing fields.
