JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Kitchen Assistant with hands- on experience in preparing Chinese cuisine to support our Kitchen operations. This role involves basic food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, organizing ingredients, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is hardworking, attentive to detail, and eager to learn traditional and modern Chinese cooking techniques.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist chefs in preparing ingredients for Chinese dishes, including washing, peeling, slicing, and chopping vegetables, meats, and seafood
• Prepare basic components such as sauces, broths, marinades, and stocks commonly used in Chinese cuisine
• Support the cooking process by handling simple tasks such as frying, steaming, boiling, and stir-frying under supervision
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, utensils, and storage areas
• Ensure proper handling and storage of ingredients in accordance with food safety standards
• Help in portioning and plating dishes as directed by chefs
• Clean kitchen equipment, including woks, steamers, knives, and cutting boards
• Dispose of kitchen waste properly and maintain hygiene standards at all times
• Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory management and restocking supplies
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is an advantage

Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices

Willingness to learn Chinese cooking techniques and kitchen operations

Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Basic knife skills and food preparation techniques

Familiarity with Chinese ingredients (e.g., soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger, garlic, rice, noodles) is a plus

Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately

Strong attention to detail and cleanliness Good teamwork and communication skills

Time management and ability to multitask

Candidates must live around Pig Farm, Shiashie, Abelemkpe and East Legon.
