Head of Supply Chain

Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Supply Chain to lead our supply chain operations in the mining industry in Ghana. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the supply chain process, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and strategic alignment with the company’s objectives. This role requires a strong leader with exceptional analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across the supply chain functions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning and Leadership:

   – Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy aligned with the company’s objectives and operational goals.

   – Lead and mentor a diverse team of professionals within the supply chain department, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

   – Collaborate with senior leadership to drive innovation and streamline supply chain processes.

2. Procurement and Supplier Management:

   – Oversee the procurement function, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.

   – Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.

   – Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and develop risk mitigation strategies.

3. Inventory and Logistics Management:

   – Optimize inventory levels to ensure availability while minimizing holding costs.

   – Design and implement efficient logistics and transportation solutions to support mining operations.

   – Monitor and analyze supply chain metrics to drive improvements in delivery efficiency and cost savings.

4. Compliance and Risk Management:

   – Ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational policies throughout the supply chain process.

   – Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, including geopolitical, financial, and operational risks.

5. Technology and Data Management:

   – Leverage supply chain management software and analytical tools to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.

   – Implement data-driven strategies to optimize supply chain performance and reporting.

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

– A minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the mining or a related heavy industry.

– Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, systems, and best practices in the mining sector.

– Proven track record in strategic planning, procurement, inventory management, and supplier negotiation.

– Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

– Proven ability to manage complex projects and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

– Proficiency in supply chain management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

– Professional certification in supply chain management, such as CSCP or CPSM, is a plus.
