Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
A reputable company is seeking the services of a greasing Mechanic who will be responsible for the proper lubrication and basic maintenance of machinery, vehicles, and equipment. The role ensures that all moving parts operate efficiently by reducing friction, preventing wear, and extending the lifespan of mechanical components.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE
- Apply grease, oil, and other lubricants to machinery components such as bearings, gears, chains, and joints.
- Follow lubrication schedules and manufacturer specifications.
- Use manual and automatic lubrication tools and systems.
- Ensure proper levels of lubricants are maintained in all equipment.
INSPECTION AND MONITORING
- Inspect equipment for signs of wear, overheating, or contamination.
- Identify lubrication-related issues such as leaks, dry bearings, or excessive friction.
- Report abnormal conditions to supervisors promptly.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
- Assist in implementing preventive maintenance programs.
- Maintain records of lubrication activities and schedules.
- Replace or clean filters, seals, and lubrication components as needed.
EQUIPMENT HANDLING
- Operate lubrication tools such as grease guns, oil pumps, and automated systems.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly cleaned and stored after use.
5. SAFETY COMPLIANCE
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Handle and dispose of lubricants and waste materials safely and in compliance with environmental standards.
COLLABORATION
- Work closely with mechanics, engineers, and maintenance teams.
- Assist in basic mechanical repairs when required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of lubrication systems and techniques
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and machinery
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance schedules and manuals
- Attention to detail and strong observation skills
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance (preferred)
EXPERIENCE
- 1–3 years of experience in lubrication, mechanical maintenance, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with industrial or heavy equipment is an advantage.
