Job Description
The Earthwork Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all earthmoving and excavation activities on-site. This role ensures that earthwork operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with design specifications, project schedules, and quality standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Educational background:
– Bachelor’s degree or higher in hydraulic engineering, geological engineering, mine engineering, environmental engineering, or related fields.
2. Work experience:
– More than 5 years of experience in tailings dam, dam construction, hydraulic engineering, or mining construction management, including at least 2 years in a managerial position.
3. Skills requirements:
– Familiar with tailings dam design standards, operation management requirements, and monitoring methods.
– Proficient in using levels, total stations, GNSS monitoring equipment, and related software.
– Proficient in tailings dam construction methods, including construction processes for initial dam, and upstream/centerline/downstream methods for raising embankments.
– Familiar with earthwork construction processes, able to review and optimize construction organization design and construction plans.
4. Language ability:
– Good command of English and French, able to read technical documents and present work reports.
5. Safety and compliance:
– Familiar with international tailings dam safety management standards (e.g., GISTM, ICMM guidelines) and local laws and regulations.
6. Personal qualities:
– Strong sense of responsibility, good stress tolerance, ability to handle emergencies.
Preferred criteria
– Experience in expansion or closure projects for large-scale mine tailings facilities.
– Possession of professional engineer licensure or safety management certificates.
– Experience collaborating with international design firms (EoR) and multicultural teams.
