Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations in the growing and dynamic mining industry in Ghana. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, in-depth financial acumen, and a proactive approach to driving financial performance and strategy within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s overall objectives.
- Oversee financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning.
- Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions and optimize financial performance.
2. Financial Management:
- Manage the company’s capital structure, funding, and investment activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and ensure effective treasury management.
3. Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations and standards.
- Identify financial risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
4. Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance team to build a high-performance finance function.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven corporate culture.
- Provide financial insights and guidance to the executive team and board of directors.
5. Operational Efficiency:
- Drive cost management initiatives and optimize financial processes.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls and financial systems.
- Support operational and strategic initiatives, improving profitability and efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred.
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is required.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial leadership role in the mining or natural resources sector.
- Strong knowledge of the mining industry’s financial and operational metrics.
- Experience in a multinational company or multicultural environment is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
