Job Summary:

The Head of Finance will be responsible for the overall financial health and performance of the organization. This senior leadership role demands an in-depth understanding of financial management in the mining sector and a proactive approach to align financial strategies with business objectives. The successful candidate will oversee financial planning, reporting, risk management, and compliance, while effectively managing and developing a high-performing finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the financial strategy in alignment with the company’s objectives, ensuring robust financial performance and sustainable growth.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, providing accurate and timely financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead and manage the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations and standards, including tax, audit, and reporting requirements.
  • Implement and maintain effective financial controls and procedures to protect company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage cash flow, investments, and funding strategies to optimize the company’s financial position and support operational needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive cost-efficiency initiatives and identify opportunities for financial improvement.
  • Provide financial guidance and support during mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic business initiatives.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the executive management team, offering expertise on financial issues, risk management, and strategic planning.
  • Represent the company in negotiations with stakeholders, including investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position within the mining or natural resources industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mining finance, including project financing, risk management, and industry-specific financial practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Proven track record of developing and leading high-performing finance teams.
  • Excellent understanding of local and international accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance issues relevant to the mining sector.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, resilience, and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
